Ambrose Depiazzi appointed Chairman of the Lions Save-Sight Foundation
In March, PCC Ambrose Depiazzi was appointed to the position of Chairman of the Foundation. He brings a wealth of experience to the Board having worked as the head of chartered accountants Bird Cameron in Perth for many years. A member of the Lions Club of Mandurah, he served on the board of the Foundation in its formation years during the establishment of the Lions Eye Institute.
His appointment followed the very sad loss of previous Chairman, PDG Lorraine Strickland following a brief battle with leukaemia in January, 2011. From joining the LSSF Board of Directors in 2002, Lorraine served as Hon. Secretary from 2002-2005 and as Chairman from 2005. Lorraine was a member of the Lions Club of Canning City and was recognised as an inspirational fighter for sight preservation.

The camera was bought from the Estate of Ross and Josephine Spence, both former Lions and LSSF funds. It is one of only two in Australia and the first in the world to be used solely for research. |
